The birth centenary of legendary actor, musician and director Honnappa Bhagavathar (father of Bharat Bhagavathar) is celebrated by Karnataka government on 22nd of March at Jnanajyothi Auditorium in Central College campus.

In the morning a photo exhibition of Honnappa Bhagavathar is organised and in the evening the celebration valedictory is attended by Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah. The photo exhibition in association with Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy will be inaugurated by Kannada and culture Minister Umasri.

Dr Rajesh, Dr B Saroja Devi, Master Hirannaiah, Ranganayakamma, Dr Gauri Kuppuswamy, Vidwan Belakawadi Rangaswamy Iyengar are honoured on this occasion.

A seminar on life and works of Honnappa Bhagavathar will be conducted by Shivaramanna. CV Shivashanker, Mysore V Subramanian, Prof Doddarange Gowda, Prof AV Suryanarayana swamy, Paramashivan are taking part in the seminar. Kumari Shivani and Kumari Nikila Bharatanatya, Anantha Krishna Sharma Jugalbandi, Ramesh Pandit stage play are also part of the cultural programs.

‘Honna Kalasha’ a souvenir to mark the centenary, Honnappa Bhagavathar written songs are released on this occasion.
